Harmony Magazine is an international annual publication of the Medical Humanities Program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson's Department of Curricular Affairs. Harmony accepts submissions of original, unpublished work related to the world of medical humanities; we feature essays, short stories, poetry, visual art and photography. This literary magazine features the works of medical/pre-medical students, physicians, nurses, ancillary staff members, patients, caregivers, community members etc. from all around the world. Contributors do not need to be associated with the University of Arizona to be eligible for submission.
We are currently looking for writers, poets, visual artists and photographers to submit entries for the 2022 edition.
The deadline for submissions is September 30th.
Submissions related to the medical humanities will be prioritized, but all submissions will be considered.
Besides receiving published recognition for your entry, all selected submissions will be considered for three top monetary awards including:
- Mathiasen Prose Award – Best submission in either prose or poetry
- Ryan Visual Arts Award – Best visual arts submission
- Parada Medical Student Award – Best overall submission from a University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson medical student
