‘Precision Wellness in the Time of COVID-19’

5:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Join presenter Bonnie LaFleur, PhD, research professor in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and the BIO5 Institute for "Precision Wellness in the Time of COVID-19."

The mission of the Precision Nutrition and Wellness Initiative, a new monthly series, is to determine and optimize the state of health of individuals to predict and prevent disease, and increase overall quality of life. This is achieved through integration of scientific research, next-generation technologies, and personalized nutrition and lifestyle design.

Research goals:

  • Utilize advances in genomics, metabolomics, microbiome, health monitoring and machine learning technologies to quantify an individual's state of health, prevent disease and treat existing conditions.
  • Optimize the state of health through balancing sleep and stress along with precision nutrition, exercise and lifestyle based on an individual's immune function, cognition, genetics, metabolism and environment.
  • Design a new healthcare model connecting patient, physician, and researcher for prediction and/or early detection of pathological processes, subsequently facilitating the prevention of disease onset and the optimization of health.

The series continues through June 2021 with monthly discussions led by top nutrition and wellness experts.
