Babak Mokhlesi MD, is a professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago where we leads the Sleep Disorders Center and the Sleep Medicine Fellowship program in the Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care. His research includes active investigation in various areas such as: National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded research on the impact of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) on type 2 diabetes and prediabetes, cardio-metabolic impact of OSA and REM-related OSA, adherence to CPAP therapy, positive airway pressure therapy in obesity hypoventilation syndrome, and postoperative risk associated with sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Mokhlesi also serves as an associate editor for journal Thorax, SLEEP, and the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.
