Dr. Webb Hooper is deputy director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). She is an integral member of the Institute’s leadership, working closely with the director to oversee all aspects of the institute and to support critical scientific initiatives and recommendations to improve minority health, reduce health disparities and promote health equity. Dr. Webb Hooper also co-leads working groups for NIH-wide initiatives to understand and address the disproportionate impacts of COVID-19 among populations with health disparities.       

Additional Information

The educational objective for Psychiatry Grand Rounds is to provide mental health professionals with updates on psychiatric topics with the goals of increasing knowledge, competence and patient care. Psychiatry Grand Rounds are held on Wednesdays (September-May) from 12 to 1 p.m. Be sure to log into your CME account and complete the evaluation to receive credit.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  • Be able to define health disparities and describe longstanding and new tobacco-related racial and ethnic disparities
  • Learn about factors that contribute to disparities
  • Learn about the development of culturally specific interventions to reduce disparities and advance health equity
