Dr. Jennifer Carew
Jennifer Carew, PhD

Dr. Carew is chief of the Division of Translational Medicine in the Department of Medicine and a professor of medicine and clinical translational sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. She also serves as director of investigator-initiated clinical trials and director of translational research at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. Dr. Carew, a nationally recognized cancer researcher and co-founder of Majestic Therapeutics LLC, focuses on identifying novel, selective therapeutic targets for patients with hematological malignancies and developing strategies to overcome drug resistance. Dr. Carew joined the University of Arizona faculty in 2016. Prior to that, she held positions at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute and the Cancer Therapy & Research Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she served as co-director of preclinical research. Earlier in her career, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis and contributed as a mentor in its pediatric oncology education program. She earned her PhD in biomedical sciences from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
