State Rep. Randy Friese of Tucson announced Thursday he’s running for Congress. Friese is a trauma surgeon who has served in the Arizona House since 2015. He is a U.S. Navy Medical Corps veteran and a retired University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson professor.

Gregory Thatcher, Ph.D., professor of pharmacology and toxicology in the UArizona College of Pharmacy, examined the role of cholesterol in both Alzheimer's disease and Type 2 diabetes to identify a small molecule that may help regulate cholesterol levels in the brain, making it a potential new therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease.

Tuesday was the last day for COVID-19 vaccinations at Harmon Park. The pop-up site in coordination with Maricopa County, the City of Phoenix, and the University of Arizona Health Sciences is working to reach individuals in underserved communities. Jeffery Hanna, a research coordinator for the University of Arizona College of Public Health says many residents in parts of south Phoenix do not have transportation or internet access. He says they’ve been working with senior and public housing facilities to sign them up.
