Building partnerships across Arizona to expand education, research and care.
As part of Arizona’s land-grant university, the University of Arizona Heath Sciences engages some of the most pressing public health problems affecting the state.
Community Engagement Alliance
The National Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) Against COVID-19 Disparities is to provide trustworthy information through active community engagement and outreach to the people hardest-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, including African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos and American Indians/Alaska Natives, with the goal of building long-lasting partnerships as well as improving diversity and inclusion in our research response to COVID-19.
Health Professions Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
We are developing a diverse health care workforce that will meet the needs of an increasingly diverse population. From helping underrepresented students foster an interest in health careers to training culturally sensitive future health care professionals, our educational goal is to produce health professionals who are ready and able to reduce health disparities in diverse populations.
Innovations in Healthy Aging
A profound shift in the U.S. population is bringing unprecedented changes in what it means to be an older adult. Over the past decade, the number of older adults in the U.S. grew to more than 54 million, including a 52% increase in Arizona’s older adult population. We are leading a university-wide effort to navigate this massive population shift through a new strategic initiative, Innovations in Healthy Aging.
In the United States, 1 in 5 people live in rural areas, where they face unique challenges when it comes to health care. We are dedicated to improving the health and wellness of Arizona’s rural and underserved populations through research, education, training and outreach programs that address ongoing and emerging rural health needs.
Corporate and Community Relations
Community engagement begins with you – the residents, city and civic organizations, and businesses who call our surrounding communities home. By creating strong networks that intersect with the UArizona Health Sciences programs and people working to make Arizonans healthier, we have an incredible advantage in improving the health and well-being of individuals throughout the state.
