Tomorrow’s health sciences professionals receive training in a state-of-the-art environment that can simulate any situation in medicine, giving them a safe space to make mistakes as they hone their skills.

The outlook for primary care access in Arizona improved significantly this week when 29 students from the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine in Phoenix and Tucson were introduced as the first recipients of the Primary Care Physician Scholarship Program.

With funding from the National Cancer Institute, a team of researchers at the University of Arizona Cancer Center is seeking effective preventive and therapeutic strategies to reduce the risk of non-melanoma skin cancer, like squamous cell carcinoma of the skin.

With additional expertise in culinary medicine and integrative medicine, Dr. Micek-Galinat will provide primary patient care at the Banner – University Medicine Family Medicine Clinic at Alvernon.

By “reprogramming” a patient’s cells to create new heart muscle cells, Health Sciences MD-PhD Candidate Ike Royal Chinyere and his mentor Steven Goldman, MD, are finding ways to improve treatments for heart-failure patients.
