The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix celebrated its 13th commencement ceremony on May 8, 2023. Led by the traditional pipe and drum corps through the streets of downtown Phoenix, more than 70 medical students from the class of 2023 ‒ joined by faculty and leaders from the university ‒ entered the Arizona Financial Theatre to raucous cheers and applause from friends and family.

Guy L. Reed, MD, MS, dean of the College of Medicine – Phoenix, addressed the class of 2023 saying, “Today you stand before all of us and read aloud, for the world to hear, your class oath of commitment — your pledge to humanism, to promote health equity and justice for everyone, to pursue lifelong learning and to become exceptional physicians. You are committing to make the world a better and healthier place for everyone.”

Robert C. Robbins, MD, president of the University of Arizona, addressed the graduates, as well, stressing how proud the university was of their accomplishments. “You are entering a profession dedicated to service to others. It is an incredible calling, and I congratulate you on this achievement and for what you will go on to do,” he said.
