Thank You for Your Service, UArizona Health Sciences Veterans
Veterans Day is a day to honor those who offered their service for the greater good of the country. Originally, Nov. 11 was declared Armistice Day to denote the end of World War I.
"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations," former President Woodrow Wilson.
In 1954, former President Dwight Eisenhower changed the name to Veterans Day to honor veterans of all branches of service, regardless of war-time service.
Today, Health Sciences Connect honors our fellow faculty, staff and students for their military service.
