The University of Arizona Health Sciences PRIDE Health Equity Alliance, part of the UArizona Health Sciences Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, is hosting the fifth annual LGBTQIA+ National Symposium and Community Health Fair on Friday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Health Sciences Innovation Building and online.
The theme of this year’s LGBTQIA+ National Symposium and Community Health Fair is inclusive and affirming health care. The free event will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, panel discussions, presentations, and a networking and community fair.
Opening remarks will be provided by Michael D. Dake, MD, senior vice president for the University of Arizona Health Sciences. The event’s keynote speaker is Rev. Louis Mitchell, senior pastor of Rincon Congregational United Church of Christ and co-founder of TransFaith, a national nonprofit working to support transgender spiritual and cultural workers in community leadership.
The National Symposium provides programming and education on LGBTQIA+ issues and paves the path to understanding and overcoming the adversities faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Its focus is on increasing community outreach, informing advocacy efforts and educating the community about the health issues affecting the LGTBQIA+ population to promote health equity for all.
Founded in 2016, the PRIDE Health Equity Alliance is committed to promoting and embracing equity, diversity, and inclusion by creating an equitable and encouraging environment for all UArizona Health Sciences students, staff, residents, faculty and patients.
Registration is required. To register or view the full agenda, visit the event page online.
