Banner – UMC Tucson’s New Hospital Tower Opens Today
New Public Entrance, New Street Address
The new, nine-story hospital tower under construction for the past four years at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson opens to the public today.
The hospital’s main entrance and lobby now shifts to The Pavilion in the new ‘Tower 1,’ off of Elm Street and Campbell Avenue.
All patients and visitors will use this new entrance, which will have valet parking and nearby surface and covered parking. Attached is a map showing public parking and the new hospital entrance.
The hospital’s cafeteria, gift shop and chapel have been relocated to the ground floor of the new tower.
Over the weekend, about 60 patients from the trauma and medical ICUs were transitioned into spacious new ICU rooms inside the tower. Several other inpatient units in the original hospital building, which opened in 1971, will transition into Tower 1 over the next month.
The pediatric inpatient units in Banner – Diamond Children’s Medical Center will remain in their current locations.
