Clinical Research Contracts

Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs)

Clinical research projects that utilize Banner patients or resources typically require a three-party clinical trial agreement. The University of Arizona Health Sciences contract negotiator will work closely with the Banner team and external sponsor to execute an appropriate clinical trial agreement.

Accelerated Clinical Trial Agreements (ACTA)

The University of Arizona understands the importance of moving quickly and efficiently during the study start-up phase. With that goal in mind, the university has adopted the Accelerated Clinical Trial Agreement template as an option for use in all industry-sponsored clinical studies. The ACTA contains positions that are reasonable compromises on the issues that often present hurdles in negotiations. Using the unmodified ACTA can reduce contract negotiation time considerably and will allow for an expedited contract review. If the sponsor is willing to use the ACTA, it must be accepted with no revisions. Any revisions to the ACTA terms and conditions will disqualify the agreement from expedited review and the contract will be opened to the full negotiation process.
