The University of Arizona Health Sciences and the College of Medicine – Phoenix office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion hosted the inaugural Go Girl Scouts Go STEAM Camp. The event was held in the Virginia G. Piper Auditorium on the Phoenix Bioscience Core and included a variety of hands-on activities designed to teach the children about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Medicine – STEAM.

More than 50 scouts and their troop leaders attended the event and participated in activities provided by students and faculty from the UArizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, Women in Medicine and Science, the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, and the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy.

“We are so grateful for the tremendous support from our faculty and students, and also our community partners, the Arizona SciTech Institute and Cox Communications, to create such an engaging and fun event,” said Caroline Berger, director of corporate and community relations at UArizona Health Sciences. “Our goal is to encourage STEAM learning at an early age and provide these future innovators with the opportunity to meet individuals, like our faculty and students, who are such inspiring examples of ‘if they can dream it, they can be it.’”
