After a comprehensive national search, I am pleased to announce that Ida M. “Ki” Moore, PhD, RN, FAAN, Anne Furrow Professor, has been named Dean of the UA College of Nursing.

Dr. Moore has demonstrated exceptional leadership for the College over the past 10 months in her interim role and has worked tirelessly to establish a collaborative, positive culture for faculty, staff and students.

Her extensive knowledge of research funding, her pursuit of collaborative partnerships, and her ability to develop opportunities for professional development will continue to advance the excellent reputation of the college, elevate its Top 10 ranking, and further strengthen its graduate programs and NIH research ranking.

Dr. Moore’s forward-looking leadership has already made a mark, and as the UA Health Sciences begins to position itself to address the global health challenges of the 21st century, I am confident the college will remain at the forefront of nursing education and research in the United States.

Dr. Moore holds a BSN and MA in Nursing from the University of Iowa, and she received her PhD from the University of California, San Francisco. She joined the UA in 1988, serving in several key positions within the college, and is a long-standing member of the UA Cancer Center.

I would like to thank the search committee – especially co-chairs Sally Rider, JD, and Jeffery Burgess, PhD – and the search firm of Russell Reynolds for their collective efforts to ensure a thorough and transparent process, from which Dr. Moore emerged as the right leader to guide the college in its continued pursuit of excellence.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Moore on her appointment.
