Lowe is a research assistant professor at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and a research scientist at the Asthma & Airway Disease Research Center. She is the program director for the Stock Inhaler for Schools Program, an initiative benefiting over 700 K-12 schools spanning ten counties across Arizona. This program, under her guidance, has achieved seven consecutive years of successful implementation, marking the largest sustained effort of its kind in the United States.
As the program director, Lowe has imparted her expertise to thousands of licensed nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel, equipping them with the skills needed for school-based medication administration and implementing stock medication programs. Her community collaborations encompass county health departments and superintendents, the Arizona Department of Health Services, the Department of Education, the School Nurse Association of Arizona, the Arizona Asthma Coalition, the National Association of School Nurses, and the American Lung Association.
In addition to her role as program director, Lowe serves as a co-investigator in numerous multi-site clinical trials supported by the National Institutes of Health Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her funding also extends to initiatives backed by Mercy C.A.R.E.S., the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Arizona Department of Education where she works with Arizona State University to evaluate the Arizona School Nurse Access Program. Her primary research interests encompass Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) Science, school-based health, pediatric respiratory disease and health disparities/equity.
Lowe is an active member of the American Thoracic Society and plays a vital role within the Behavioral and Health Services Research Assembly. She additionally serves as a board member for the Arizona Asthma Coalition and is deeply engaged in teaching and mentoring undergraduate, graduate, nursing and medical students. Lowe earned her MSPH and PhD from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, showcasing her strong academic foundation and dedication to advancing health care and research.
