Dr. Roberta Weintraut Awarded Alumna of the Year from Weil Center
The Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona announced its annual selection from among integrative health practitioners.
Each year the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine (AWCIM) at the University of Arizona awards its Alumni of the Year award to a graduate of its educational programs who is advancing the field of integrative medicine. Open to graduates of the flagship Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, as well as the Integrative Health & Lifestyle program, nominations are solicited from previous graduates of these programs.
This year’s award winner is Roberta Weintraut, MD, director of the Integrative Medicine Division and leader of the Integrative Medicine in Residency (IMR) program at the Navicent Health/Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Ga.
“Training in integrative medicine has imbued my work with a greater purpose,” Dr. Weintraut said. “The connection to the patient and their path was lost, and I needed a way not just to bring that back into my own practice, but to show my residents and students how to bring that into theirs as well.”
“Roberta participated in IMR as one of the early adopter sites and has faithfully participated and taught at the IMR faculty development meeting,” said Patricia Lebensohn, MD, director of the IMR at AWCIM. “Roberta’s kind spirit is palpable in her teaching of botanicals to residents and peers. She has been the most humble leader and supporter of integrative medicine.”
