Douglas is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burns, and Emergency Surgery with the UArizona College of Medicine – Tucson Department of Surgery. Douglas earned her undergraduate degree in engineering, followed by her medical degree from Tufts University. She completed residency in general surgery at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, and was fellowship-trained in surgical critical care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care.
At Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, Douglas serves as the trauma division liaison with the trauma floor nursing leadership. She is active in outreach, including teaching Stop the Bleed, Advanced Trauma Life Support, and Fundamentals of Critical Care Support.
Douglas' clinical interests include trauma resuscitation, general surgery emergencies, nutrition in critical illness and family communication in the ICU. Her primary research interests are in systems improvement and multidisciplinary collaborations to grow machine learning for health care.
