The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health honored its spring 2024 graduating class at Centennial Hall on May 11. A total of 209 public health graduates celebrated the successful conclusion of their programs in front of family, friends and faculty.

“Graduates, as you embark on the next phase of your journey, you are poised to explore a breadth of diverse opportunities, unlike any other alumni from graduate institutions worldwide,” Dean Iman Hakim, MD, PhD, MPH, said in her opening remarks. “Your path may lead you to groundbreaking laboratory research, immersive fieldwork experiences, or positions of leadership within international organizations and health ministries, where your expertise will shape global initiatives. Alternatively, you may find fulfillment in serving marginalized populations facing dire circumstances, making a tangible difference in their lives.”

The event honored five Doctor of Public Health graduates, six Doctor of Philosophy graduates, six Master of Science graduates, 64 Master of Public Health graduates, two Bachelor of Arts graduates and 126 Bachelor of Science graduates. Among the graduates, 107 were the first in their families to earn a university degree. 

“Congratulations, May 2024 graduates! May your future endeavors be filled with continued success, innovation and a profound impact on the health and well-being of communities worldwide. Your accomplishments are a beacon of hope, and I am confident that you will contribute to a brighter and healthier future for all,” Hakim said.
