Aug. 15, 2024

Office of Public Safety

The University of Arizona Police Department invites faculty and staff members to register now for the second session of the UAPD Community Academy, that will run from Sept. 11 to Nov. 20.

This free 10-week series will take place on Wednesdays from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Environment and Natural Resources 2 Building, 1042 E. South Campus Dr., Tucson, 85719. Free parking is available in Lot 7103, south of 6th St/ENR2.

What you will learn

During the weekly 2.5-hour sessions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of every facet of UAPD’s operations.

From patrol operations and criminal investigations to regional partnerships with law enforcement agencies, sworn police personnel and civilian staff will provide a comprehensive overview of their duties and responsibilities.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their concerns and ideas regarding public safety in a respectful dialogue, enhancing their relationship with the police department through education and live interaction with UAPD personnel.

The academy does not involve hands-on experiences or simulations. Food and drinks will be provided.

How to participate

Registration is now open. Space is limited to 40 participants and available on a first-come, first-served basis to faculty and staff members. If you are on the waitlist, you will be notified if any positions open closer to the start of the academy.

UAPD is committed to active engagement with the university community, and the academy is another way to cultivate meaningful partnerships with faculty and staff as part of our collaborative approach to safety.
