Call for proposals: Center of Excellence in Addiction Studies pilot project awards

Nov. 14, 2024

Center of Excellence in Addiction Studies

The University of Arizona Center of Excellence in Addiction Studies, or CEAS, is pleased to announce it is offering up to $25,000 per proposal to support U of A research studying drug addiction. Support could help U of A faculty acquire key preliminary data to support planned National Institute of Drug Abuse applications (E.g., R01 or R21).

Projects could include the collection of experimental data for planned NIDA grant proposals and the development of novel approaches, methods and technologies that could be applied to the study of drug addiction and pain. For example, a pilot proposal could perform a small hypothesis-driven study that tests a novel concept or technology or produces preliminary data for a NIDA proposal. Collected data could help establish feasibility and be used to estimate sample sizes and statistical power for a larger study.

Applicants may apply for up to $25,000 in funding. No more than three awards will be given per year.

Eligibility

Applicant(s) must be an eligible full-time faculty and principal investigator at the University of Arizona. Applications from early-stage investigators are encouraged.
