Ryan Sprissler, PhD

Ryan Sprissler, PhD, is an associate research professor at the University of Arizona Genetics Core, the association director of operations at the U of A Office of Research, Innovation and Impact, and an associate director at the Center for Advanced Molecular and Immunological Therapies.

At the U of A Genetics Core, Sprissler has led cutting-edge genetic research and technological advancements for more than 14 years. He played a pivotal role in attaining multiple certifications necessary for clinical human genetic testing.

He also coordinates outreach and sample exchange programs with prestigious institutions including the College of American Pathologists, the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Washington University Genomic Pathology Services. He has forged long-term partnerships across the research and medical communities, which continue to shape his work.

Sprissler’s research focuses on clinical human genetics, particularly understanding the genetic factors involved in disease progression and treatment response. His journey into genetics began with a fascination for understanding how things work, which translated seamlessly into his passion for genetic research.

Sprissler is a co-founder of the Center for Applied Genetics and Genomic Medicine and a member of the BIO5 Institute. He values collaboration, recognizing that scientific discovery, especially in clinical genetics, is a team effort.
