"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"

With those words, in 1918 President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11 as the first Armistice Day marking the end of World War I. Changed to Veterans Day by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1954 to honor veterans of all wars, November 11 is the day we honor living veterans of all branches of the service for their sacrifice for the greater good.

Over the past several weeks, Health Sciences Connect has been compiling photo submissions from veterans across Health Sciences to create a photo gallery to honor them for Veterans Day. To these veterans and all the others in Health Sciences and our community, we thank you for your service to our country.
