Faculty, staff and students from the University of Arizona Health Sciences colleges, departments and centers have been playing a vital role in COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

Vaccination efforts have been underway at the state-run Point of Distribution (POD) in Pima County, located on the University of Arizona campus since January. In Tucson, UArizona Health Sciences employees and students have joined community members to assist with everything from checking people in for their vaccination appointments and monitoring them afterward, to mixing and distributing the Pfizer vaccine. As of April 19, the University POD had distributed more than 175,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the general public, including faculty, staff and students.

Employees and students from the College of Medicine – Phoenix and the College of Pharmacy in Phoenix also have assisted with distribution efforts reaching underserved populations around Arizona.
