Talha Riaz, MD
Dr. Riaz is an assistant clinical professor of medicine and an assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson's Division of Infectious Diseases. He was born in Pakistan, where he spent his formative years. His interest in infectious diseases began during a research fellowship in cardiovascular infectious diseases. Under the mentorship of Camelia Marculescu, he developed a strong interest in caring for patients with musculoskeletal infections. He further advanced his expertise in orthopedic infectious diseases while training under Doug Osmon. Dr. Riaz has contributed to multiple research projects on osteoarticular infections, including a multicenter study examining risk factors for fungal prosthetic joint infections. Following completion of his fellowship, he joined the Cleveland Clinic Health System and served on the staff at Northeast Ohio Medical University. In addition to his research in musculoskeletal infections, he manages patients with cardiovascular infections, including infective endocarditis and cardiovascular device-related infections. He is also passionate about teaching and mentoring medical students and residents.
