Event Description

The Department of Translational Neurosciences introduces it's Spring 2025 Seminar Series, a monthly lecture series covering diverse topics in neuroscience. This month's featured speaker is Todd Vanderah, PhD, department head and professor of pharmacology, and co-director of the MD/PHD Dual Degree Program. 

This seminar is hybrid. Vanderah will be joining us via Zoom from Tucson. We invite those who are local in Phoenix to join us in HSEB Room B302. Refreshments will be available.

Vanderah is head and professor of Pharmacology at the University of Arizona, with joint appointments in neurology, physiological sciences, and anesthesiology. He also serves as co-director of the MD/PhD Dual Degree Program. Vanderah’s research centers on understanding and addressing cancer pain mechanisms, neuronal integration in pain pathways, neurochemical changes in neuropathy, and neuronal plasticity. A prolific researcher, Vanderah has authored over 135 original research articles. He is actively involved in academic leadership as a member of the Pharmacology Executive Committee and the Dean's Council on Faculty Affairs, and he directs the Medical Pharmacology Graduate Program. His expertise encompasses the pharmacology of both acute and chronic pain models, the functioning of endogenous opioid systems, sensory neural pathways, opioid tolerance, and the synergistic antinociceptive effects of cannabinoids and opioids in pain management.
