Presenter Details

Dr. Trutter was born and raised in Mutare, Zimbabwe. The concept of Ubuntu was instilled in her at a very early age and is a way of being. Dr. Trutter received her Bachelor in Biological Sciences (Honors) at Midlands State University. She has always known she wanted to become a physician; however, she did not know that she would take a path different from most. Dr. Trutter came from a different education system, which meant readjusting to the one in the United States. She relocated to the United States, where she earned an MPH in Global Health and an MS in CMM while taking premed courses and preparing for the MCAT. She moved here without family or a support system, but the concept of Ubuntu meant she had to create a support system for herself.

Dr. Trutter was fortunate enough to be introduced to the Office of Student Engagement at the University of Arizona Health Sciences, where she was part of the FACES and PMAP programs. She was a participant in AZ-HOPE and was the first recipient of the biomedical STEM fund for research.
