Justin Hayes, MD, MPH
Hayes is a clinical associate professor of medicine in the University of Arizona Division of Infectious Diseases and the medical director of the Banner – University Medical Center Tucson's Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in Tucson. His primary areas of focus are the optimization of antimicrobial usage and diagnostic testing. He represents Banner – UMC Tucson and the University of Arizona as a site principal investigator for the SHEA Research Network. In addition, Hayes is interested in clinical mycology and is actively involved in the Mycoses Study Group Education & Research Consortium. More recently, as both an infectious disease physician and antimicrobial steward in Arizona, Hayes has become interested in the unique challenges facing antimicrobial stewardship programs in the endemic region for coccidioidomycosis, also known as Valley fever.
