Dr. John S. Albin, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist and faculty member at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in the Division of Infectious Diseases. He also serves as Associate Director of Mycobacterial Research at the Mycobacterial Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Albin’s research focuses on applying innovative chemical strategies to modify naturally occurring proteins in order to enhance their therapeutic potential. His work centers on the development of peptide-based antibiotics, including antibody-bactericide conjugates designed to improve the effectiveness of existing antimicrobial agents, as well as the design and synthesis of novel antimicrobial peptides. His research targets multidrug-resistant pathogens, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and non-tuberculous mycobacterial species, with the goal of developing next-generation antimicrobial therapies to address emerging infectious disease threats.
