The many faces of asthma: From early origins to primary prevention and targeted therapies
Presenter Details
Fernando Martinez, MD
Dr. Martinez is a Regents Professor and the Swift-McNear Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, where he also serves as director of the Asthma and Airway Disease Center. He is an internationally recognized expert in pediatric pulmonology. His research focuses on the natural history of childhood asthma and the genetic, immunologic, physiological and environmental factors influencing asthma risk in early life.
Dr. Martinez earned his medical degrees from the University of Chile in Santiago and the University of Rome, where he also completed his pediatric residency with a specialization in pediatric pulmonology. He is a member of both the National Scientific Council on the Developing Child and the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
