Event Description
In this College of Medicine – Tucson Department of Pharmacology seminar, Theodor "Ted" Price, PhD, will present on "New insight into neuropathic pain mechanisms from human dorsal root ganglion studies."
Price will discuss his lab’s work on understanding neuropathic pain mechanisms in the human dorsal root ganglion. He will begin with an overview of his lab’s RNA sequencing findings that have defined molecular subtypes in the hDRG. He will then discuss findings from three distinct cohorts. The first will focus on changes in DRGs associated with pain in thoracic vertebrectomy studies and how this line of work has identified new targets for neuropathic pain treatment. The second will focus on diabetic neuropathic pain from DRGs recovered from organ donors. The last will discuss findings from DRGs removed during C1/C2 fusion surgeries associated with chronic neck pain. Overall, the talk will bring new insight into neuropathic pain mechanisms, based entirely on human data.
