Presenter details

Zachary Compton, PhD
Postdoctoral fellow
University of Arizona Cancer Center

Compton received his undergraduate degree in genetics, cell and developmental biology from Arizona State University where he stayed to complete a doctorate in evolutionary biology. During his time there he founded and directed the Arizona Cancer Evolution Scholars program. By the time he stepped down as director in 2023, it had become the largest undergraduate research group in the state. He is interested in all the intersections cancer biology makes with evolutionary theory, particularly the evolution of therapeutic resistance in late-stage tumors. He is passionate about bringing evolution into the cancer clinic, as well the classroom. Read more
