Preventing rheumatic diseases: Where are we now and where do we go next?
Presenter details
Kevin Deane, PhD
Deane is a board-certified rheumatologist and a professor of medicine at the University of Colorado. His research centers on the early stages of rheumatoid arthritis, particularly the biological changes that occur before joint inflammation, which is known as the "pre-RA" phase. He aims to uncover the mechanisms that initiate rheumatoid arthritis and develop strategies for prevention. Deane is the principal investigator of the NIH-funded StopRA trial, which evaluates whether hydroxychloroquine can prevent or delay inflammatory arthritis in individuals at high risk for rheumatoid arthritis.
