Shari Meyerson, MD, MEd

Meyerson is an accomplished thoracic surgeon and nationally known educator, currently serving as chief of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Kentucky HealthCare, while also providing surgical leadership to the thoracic oncology team at University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. Her primary clinical interest is in treating lung cancer patients with a focus on not only curing cancer but also maintaining excellent quality of life for her patients. She specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques and has extensive experience performing and training other providers in video-assisted thoracic surgery. In addition to her expertise in caring for lung cancer patients, Meyerson cares for patients with a wide range of thoracic conditions, including esophageal, mediastinal and pleural diseases.
Meyerson’s academic focus is training surgical residents, and she is widely recognized for her innovation in surgical education. In 2015, she completed a Master of Education degree at the University of Cincinnati to enhance her skills as an educator. Her current work focuses on developing autonomy in surgical residents, teaching technical and cognitive skills, and enhancing career longevity among surgeons.
