Zong-Ming Li, PhD, the William and Sylvia Rubin Chair of Orthopaedic Research and a professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, was inducted as a Fellow of the International Combined Orthopaedic Research Societies.

“Being inducted as a Fellow of ICORS is an honor,” said Li, who also serves as the vice chair for research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and as an associate director of the U of A Arthritis Center. “It represents not only recognition from an international community of colleagues whom I respect, but also the collective efforts of my group over many years. I am grateful for their support and partnership in advancing orthopaedic biomechanics research.”

The fellowship recognizes researchers who have made exceptional contributions to advancing orthopaedic research and fostering international collaboration in musculoskeletal science.

Li, who is also a professor of biomedical engineering at the College of Engineering and a member of the BIO5 Institute, traveled to the societies’ congress held in Adelaide, Australia, last month. He called the meeting an inspiring experience.

“It was wonderful to reconnect with colleagues from around the world, exchange new ideas and see the exciting directions in which our field is moving,” Li said.

With more than 35 years of pioneering research in musculoskeletal biomechanics, particularly in hand function and motor control, Li was also recently elected as a Fellow of the International Society of Biomechanics, one of the most prestigious honors in the field. The fellowship acknowledges leaders who have made lasting, outstanding contributions to biomechanics research and education across the globe.
