The anti-inflammatory diet takes principals from the Mediterranean diet, studied since the 1960s, and the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension), developed in the 1990s, and has been attributed to Andrew Weil, MD, founder of the Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
