Dr. Slepian’s extensive research career has resulted in innovative diagnostics and therapeutics for cardiovascular diseases. His work at the University of Arizona has focused on the development and use of novel biomaterials for tissue engineering, drug delivery and medical-device development.

The SIMI summer program takes the stigma out of ignorance, equipping students with the question-asking skills they need to succeed professionally and intellectually.

Dr. Abecassis is the J. Roscoe Miller Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Microbiology-Immunology at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. He also is chief of the Division of Organ Transplantation and founding director of the Comprehensive Transplant Center.

The six-week academic enrichment program at the University of Arizona Health Sciences hosted 50 high school students from 22 Arizona communities this summer in an intensive exploration of health professions careers that will impact the health and lives of others.

For the second year in a row, Banner – University Medicine will provide each new medical student at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson a stethoscope. The gift of 120 stethoscopes is valued at $20,500.

As a symbol of their acceptance into medical school, new medical students will receive and don their first white coats at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson White Coat Ceremony. What began with two friends’ mutual passion for Tai Chi has become a collaboration between the University of Arizona and Beijing Normal University that will facilitate worldwide research of the benefits of Chinese health practices and the complementary use of Eastern and Western medicine on a global scale.
