U of A Health Sciences to host inaugural Wellness and Wonder Day

Community wellness expo and educational showcase will feature faculty experts who will help participants explore the interconnections of wonder, well-being, health and the humanities.

Wellness and Wonder is a free event on the University of Arizona campus that will feature hands-on exhibits, guided tours, discussion on how you can remain healthy for years to come and wellness activities suitable for people all ages.

  • What: Wellness and Wonder –  A Community Wellness Expo and Educational Showcase
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
  • Where: Health Sciences Innovation Building, 1670 E. Drachman St., and surrounding buildings on the University of Arizona campus

The University of Arizona Health Sciences invites the community to its inaugural Wellness and Wonder Day, a community wellness expo and educational showcase featuring faculty experts who will help participants explore the interconnections of wonder, well-being, health and the humanities.

The free event will feature hands-on exhibits, guided tours, discussion on how you can remain healthy for years to come and wellness activities suitable for people of all ages.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore the El Mirador Project, a renowned digital art collection at the Health Sciences Innovation Building.
  • Take guided tours of the Coit Museum of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
  • Participate in art-making sessions with ArtWorks at the Sonoran Center for Excellence in Disabilities.
  • View the “Selections from Ansel Adams” exhibit at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.

In addition to these attractions, the day’s schedule includes faculty talks on topics ranging from obesity medicine to Valley fever vaccine advances, and hands-on activities such as tours of the Arizona Simulation Technology and Education Center and BIO5 Institute’s prototyping lab. A STEAM room for kids will be available, offering a fun and educational experience for younger attendees.

To help celebrate this event, the Tucson City Council and Mayor Regina Romero have proclaimed Saturday, Sept. 21, as “University of Arizona Health Sciences Wellness and Wonder Day.” The proclamation was read at the council’s Sept. 11 meeting.
