UArizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health Receives Prestigious 7-Year Reaccreditation; also Celebrating 20th Anniversary
Council on Education for Public Health awards full reaccreditation to the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, an exemplary achievement as it celebrates 20th anniversary as part of university.
TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health has received full reaccreditation for seven years from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

The rigorous process covers all in-person and online degree programs for both undergraduate and graduate degrees, including a global dual-degree program. The assessment process was extensive, and the college met or exceeded requirements in every category to attain this status, according to the CEPH report.
“I want to thank our faculty and staff members, who provided so much information for the accreditation process,” said Iman Hakim, MD, PhD, MPH, dean of the college and the Mel and Enid Zuckerman Endowed Chair in Public Health. “I especially wish to thank John Ehiri, PhD, MPH, interim associate dean for academic affairs, and his predecessor, Douglas Taren, PhD, for their tireless efforts to prepare for this rigorous process and for being so responsive to the CEPH committee. We also want to thank CEPH for their time, expertise and careful attention throughout this evaluation.”
This year, the College of Public Health is celebrating its 20th Anniversary, and the college’s reaccreditation underscores the impressive growth in programs and centers that have advanced public health research and improved people’s lives in Arizona and beyond.

“I am so proud of the incredible team effort that went into reaccrediting the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health,” Dr. Hakim said. “We have achieved so much during our first 20 years and have quickly become a leader in public health education, research, community engagement and outreach. Right now, we are teaching the next generation of public health leaders, and we have exciting plans for the future of the college, both regionally and globally.
