Upgrades coming to Health Sciences, South Stadium, Highland parking garages
Parking and Transportation Services
This summer and into the fall, Parking and Transportation Services will be installing new gate systems, payment equipment and cameras at entrances and exits of the South Stadium, Highland and Health Sciences parking garages. These upgrades will help better manage the availability of parking spaces reserved for permit holders, giving them priority access and limiting visitor entry when needed.
Work begins Thursday, July 31, with the South Stadium garage. Permit holders will be notified by email about the installation dates for their garage.
Permit holders will have access to these garages during the upgrades. There may be possible delays during the installation periods.
What’s changing?
The new gates and license plate recognition cameras will simplify entry, exit and payment processes for all users and create a consistent experience in all garages across campus.
- Cameras will read license plates and grant access to valid permit holders.
- Scanning a CatCard will be available as a backup option for permit holders.
- Visitors will be charged when exiting, eliminating the need for the stand-alone payment stations or Passport app to pay for parking ahead of time.
- The Health Sciences garage spaces will align with other campus garages, allowing visitors and permit holders to park on all levels. Currently, visitors are only allowed to park on the roof.
Parking and Transportation Services will do its best to minimize any disruptions. If you need assistance during the installation periods, please contact PTS Dispatch at 520-621-1108.
