Vacation carry forward and planning for your vacation

The carry-forward maximum for vacation hours from one calendar year to the next is 320 hours (prorated by FTE), which equates to 40 days.*
Jan. 4, 2026, is the last day to use excess 2025 vacation hours before they are forfeited.
Vacation hours accrued during the Dec. 22, 2025, through Jan. 4, 2026, pay period will be applied after any excess hours are forfeited.

- Nov. 11: Veterans Day
- Nov. 27 & 28: Thanksgiving Day and University Closure day after
- Dec. 24 & 25: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
- Dec. 26-31: University Closure
- Jan. 1, 2026: New Year's Day
- Jan. 2, 2026: University Closure
How to check your vacation time
- Log in to UAccess Employee.
- Select the "Time" card.
- Select Leave/Comp Time. Your vacation time will show next to your recorded balance.
Make the most of your time
Here are suggestions on how to use your vacation time in combination with upcoming holidays:

*Postdoctoral scholars can carry forward a maximum of 1.5 times the number of vacation hours earned in a year.
