The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health welcomes Jose Fernando Florez-Arango, MD, PhD, to the School of Health Professions as an associate professor of practice.

He will also join the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics (CB2) as associate director for education and training. In his new position, Dr. Florez-Arango will design, launch and oversee new educational offerings in biomedical informatics, including the planned Master's in Digital Health Program within the School of Health Professions slated to begin in fall 2026.

Florez-Arango comes to the University of Arizona from Weill Cornell Medicine, where he was an associate professor and academic program director in health informatics. He brings more than 25 years of experience in curriculum development and implementation in health informatics. Additionally, Florez-Arango has expertise in digital health implementation and evaluation in low-resource environments and in the use of information and communication technologies to enhance human clinical performance.
