Where: Health Sciences Innovation Building, 1670 E. Drachman St., Tucson

Feast for Your Brain, a free community event with presentations by aging experts as well as entertainment and learning opportunities, will take place Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Health Sciences Innovation Building on the University of Arizona Health Sciences campus in Tucson.

“This event brings together our many community partners in southern Arizona and our health science expertise in healthy aging for a fun day of information and performances,” said Zhao Chen, PhD, MPH, distinguished professor and associate dean for research in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, which is hosting the event.

“Feast for your Brain” supports the Precision Aging Network (PAN) and the PAN partner MindCrowd brain research project, which launched in 2013 to better understand memory and risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease. In 2021, the University of Arizona was awarded a $60 million grant to support the Precision Aging Network.

“We want to engage people and show them the benefits of participating in Precision Aging Network research, which aims to improve our understanding of important factors for brain health and physical health as our population ages,” said Dr. Chen, who leads the PAN’s community engagement, recruitment and retention efforts. “At the same time, we want to train the next generation of professionals and researchers by providing experiential learning opportunities in PAN to University of Arizona students.”

University units participating in the event include the Healthy Aging LabCoVHORT research study and Mobile Health Unit from the Zuckerman College of Public Health, the All of Us UArizona-Banner research study, the Skin Cancer Institute and the UArizona Fred Fox School of Music
