Calendar, Announcements, college-specific pages are among the new features in this one-stop shop for Health Sciences news and information.
New sections offer more ways to stay connected across the University of Arizona Health Sciences.
The Health Sciences Office of Communications is unveiling the next phase of Health Sciences Connect, which has quickly become the destination of choice for news and information about all of the outstanding education, research and outreach activities taking place on the University of Arizona Health Sciences campuses.
More than 17,000 people have visited this site since its debut in March, and we are excited to build on that success by introducing better ways to share news and information across the Health Sciences community.
Our new features include a Calendar with searchable events and Grand Rounds, and a new Announcements section to view and distribute important updates. We’ve also added dedicated sites to showcase college-focused content, and we are introducing a new weekly email update to replace a daily one and reduce your inbox overload.
When Health Sciences Connect launched in early March, we knew we needed to learn more about each other, forge the connections that inspire our daily work and share our successes.
We know there are common threads that tie us together, whether we work in education, research, outreach – or all three. We didn’t anticipate how important a digital connection would become just a few weeks later when our physical connections were suddenly limited as we all took necessary precautions to restrict interactions to protect our health.

Find events and activities, access important announcements
There’s now a Calendar accessible on the home page and the navigation menu, which you can use to see what’s happening in your college, in your city and virtually. We’ve also added a section for Announcements where you will find important updates. Both sections are searchable by keyword, location and audience.
Any event can easily be added to your personal calendar, and you can access a registration form or the livestream link with one click in many cases. We’ve also created a page that filters all events listed as Grand Rounds, and where you can search Grand Rounds by location, college and department.
Anyone with a NetID can log in to submit to the Calendar, Announcements and Grand Rounds sections, and use our guidelines to shape their submissions.
Explore the site by college
The navigation menu above now features each of the five Health Sciences colleges. The links take you to dedicated sites that provide a new way to learn about your peers through a curated display of all Health Sciences Connect content related to a specific college.
When you click into a college section from the menu at the top of every page, you will find all the news stories, awards, photo galleries and videos featuring the College of Medicine – Phoenix, the College of Medicine – Tucson, the College of Nursing, the College of Pharmacy and the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.
Those pages also provide easy access to pre-filtered Calendar and Announcements tailored to people in the college. Each Health Sciences Connect college page also includes a link to the college’s main website.
Get all your updates in one place
No one needs extra emails, so we’re consolidating the daily Health Sciences Campus Update email you receive into one weekly virtual newsletter, delivered to your inbox on Tuesdays starting Oct. 20. The daily Campus Update emails will end on Friday, Oct. 16.
The new weekly newsletter, Health Sciences Update, will feature a selected list of announcements, events and Grand Rounds published on Health Sciences Connect, with easy access to all the others.
All submissions received before 5 p.m. every Thursday will be considered for inclusion in the following week’s newsletter. Entries are reviewed before publication to ensure they meet the guidelines and include all relevant information.
Building on our existing connections
The new Calendar, Announcements, Grand Rounds and college-specific sites build on the news stories and multimedia features we publish every week to help connect you with all of Health Sciences.
You will continue to receive the Inside Health Sciences newsletter every Friday, where you can find inspiring stories, awards articles, photo galleries and videos that celebrate faculty, staff and students who make Health Sciences a great place to work, learn and discover.
A few examples include:
- pediatricians in Tucson who investigated COVID-19 care throughout the world,
- the science and considerations all parents should incorporate into family health decisions
- how our public health colleagues became go-to experts on reducing the spread of the pandemic,
- researchers you might never have met, studying common issues such as asthma or pain
- projects designed to help you improve your health and well-being that you can take advantage of right now,
- and you! With our gallery inspired by your motivations for leading by example and wearing a mask.
